Green technological projects boom 4:21 PM,8/1/2016

Many domestic business start-ups have adopted green production technologies as part of efforts to protect the environment and respond to climate change.

Pham Nhu Trang who was born in 1986 and started the I-Nature Sustainable Agriculture project recently has receive the Vietnam Climate Renovation Startups Award prize organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the World Bank.

The project was praised for successfully building a 4,000sq.m non-waste farming model in Hanoi’s Ba Vi District from joint efforts by domestic and foreign agricultural experts.

This closed model save farmers input costs of feed, fertilizers, pesticides, growth hormones and preservatives through applying new technological solutions to recycle waste.

The project has attracted some 10 farmer households in Ba Vi who are able to produce more than 45 kinds of fruit and vegetables and eight kinds of egg and meat. The output mainly fetches much higher prices in Hanoi in comparison with other counterparts.

Director of the Hai Duong-based Power, Water and Marine Services Co. Ltd., Nguyen Trong Viet has received an award for the invention of water filters made from silicon oxide ceramic and activated carbon that can filter contaminated water into clean drinking water. The Hai Duong Preventive Health Center has tested the equipment with water taken from the local Bach Dang Lake and got positive results. The equipment is fairly cheaper than some foreign alternatives but durable for 10-20 year.

Novas Company’s fish seduction led light system save fishing boats up to 80 percent of electricity or 60 percent of diesel oil used for lighting, while reducing some 60 tonnes of CO2 emissions into the environment every year, increasing income per capital per year to US$1,500 and effectively preventing fishermen from occupational diseases like blind eyes, skin burns and skin cancer.

The Vietnam Climate Innovation Center in cooperation with the Australian Government and the UK’s Department for International Development will provide domestic starters-up with green technologies in the five sectors of fossil and renewable energies, information, sustainable agriculture and water resource management. The center targets to support 48 enterprises that adopt clean production technologies and more than 1,700 households to access green products.

In the draft of the law to support small and medium-sized enterprises, the Ministry of Planning and Investment suggests a program to support small and medium-sized starters-up, especially for those who that adopt green technologies, with a view to further encourage them to develop effectively.
