Scientists from the Institute of Crops Research and Development (Vietnam National University of Agriculture) have successfully studied and created the two-line hybrid rice HQ19.

The two-line hybrid rice HQ19 is a product of the national project “Research on selecting two-line hybrid rice varieties with high capacity, good quality, and aroma” (code DTDL.14-2012), has short growth duration (125-130 days in spring crop and 100-105 days in seasonal crop), high capacity (7.5-8 tons/ha),  good resistance to diseases, long grain, and soft and moreish cooked rice with aroma. The HQ19 has been trialed successfully in a lot of provinces (Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An…) and acknowledged to be the advancement of technology by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2015.
