Recently, scientists from Forest Industry Research Institute - FIRI(Vietnamese Academy of Forest Sciences) have successfully researched the wood treatment process by nano solution of TiO2 and CuO with vacuum method.
This technology which is a product of a national research project, coded KC07.08/11-15 includes 6 steps: place wood into containers by layers (to make wood easily contact with soaking solution) and put all into soaking tank; vacuum to eliminate air from wood and tank; pump nano solution into the tank; increase pressure inside the tank (until reached 0.7 Mpa maintaining within 120 minutes); discharge pressure, then drain all soaking solution back to another container, place wood onto a stand to naturally dry its surface. Testing results on hybrid acacia and bo tree wood showed that the treated wood has good ability of anti-insect, anti-fungus, and its mechanical and physical characteristics have been enhanced, meeting outdoor and indoor use requirements.
