Through the implementation of the project "Application of nitrite/anammox method to process nitrogen in tannery wastewater", the scientists from the Institute of Tropical Biology have studied successfully a system for processing nitrogen in combination with Nitrosomonas bacteria groups, anammox and SNAP technological processes.
Applying a trial system at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Zone (Nha Be, Ho Chi Minh City) showed that after the first treatment step, nitrogen removal efficiency reached 70-80%; nitrogen removal efficiency reached 85-90% in the second step. Treated wastewater meets the standards under column B, QCVN 40:2011BTNMT. The system has low cost, and is safe, easy to use, suitable for tanneriesof small capacity (10-50 m3/day).
