Through the implementation of the project: Researching, designing, and manufacturing blackness gauges for radioactive film in industry, engineers at the Center for Non-Destructive Evaluation, Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute have successfully studied and made a black gauge for radioactive film in industry.
The device’s case is designed in detail using 3D software for industrial design, and the program for the device is written in C language. Its electronics are designed with passive stable components with low errors. The device has been operated in practical tests and shown stable performance, measurement accuracy: ±0,02D or 1%; film blackness range: 0.00 to 4,00D; measured value repeatability: ± 0,02D. The device meets the ASTM 1079-00 standard for blackness gauges in industry. In particular, the researchers have succeeded in creating the device with the price of only 60% compared with the imported products of the same type.
