The machine uses acetylene and plasma to cut metals via computer numerical control (CNC). This is a product created by a creative business owner in Tien Giang Province.
The user-friendly machine which is as effective as import products but much cheaper with a price of less than VND100 million is created by Nguyen Thanh Tung in My Tho City.
The machine comprises a CNC unit using American Zeus software, installed in the electric control cabinet, a computer (CPU, screen and keyboard) connected with the control unit, and the metal cutting unit.
The unit includes a servo engine and gear system which can regulate the cutter (acetylene or plasma). It can go horizontally and vertically to cut metals as ordered thanks to signals from the keyboard and drivers from the controller (via the electric wire system).
The cutting board is two meters long and one meter wide; it can fix the metal sheets that need to be cut.
It is simple to work with the machine. To cut metals in accordance with simple shapes (U, C, L shapes, for example), one can draw shapes on computer and order the machine to cut.
If users want more complicated shapes, they draw shapes with Master Cam software on another computer, then copy the shapes with a USB and paste on the computer connected with the machine. After that, they need to use Ghost programe to order the machine cut the metals as designed.
The outstanding feature of the machine is that it can cut metals according with complicated shapes and with high accuracy and high speed.
Tung’s machine can use acetylene and plasma rays to heat and cut metal. The air compressed at high pressure is used to cut metal as programmed.
The machine cuts steel sheets with the thickness of between 1 mm and 20 cm. With acetylene, it can be effective to 1mm-20 cm metal sheets, while with plasma rays, it can cut the metal sheet with the thickness of 2 cm.
Tung said he thought of creating a metal cutter after realizing that Vietnamese have to buy similar machines at high prices of up to VND100 million, while imported products are even more expensive, at VND400-500 million.
He believes that it is a big waste to use imported machines because people cannot take full advantage of all the features. His machine is also much cheaper.
Tung said his workshop can make a rigid frame of a machine, cutting production cost to VND50-60 million. With the price, the machine is 30 percent cheaper than other products of the same kind.
