Through implementation of the project "Research into technology and equipment system for tea preservation by a combination of silosusing heat pump" under the Program KC07/11-15, the scientists of the Vietnam Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Post-harvest Technology have successfully manufactured a system for preserving CTC black tea by a combination of silosthat uses heat pumps.
The system includes a unit for tea feeding and distribution into the silos (capacity of 3.5-4 tons/hour); a combination of 16 silos made of stainless steel Su 201-304 (volume of 12 m3/silo, capacity of 4.5 tons of CTC black tea/silo); a unit for quantifying and mixing tea under a predetermined ratio (capacity of 3-3.5 tonnes/hour); control center to monitor the operation of the whole system, including monitoring automatically the temperature and humidity in the silos, and the quantifying and mixing process. Application results at Asia Tea Company Limited (Phu Tho province) showed the system can maintain the quality of CTC black tea within 12 months; the quality of tea products satisfies the export standards.
