Vietnam recalls baby vaccine over bacteria fear 11:15 AM,11/5/2012
On November 1, the Drug Administration of Vietnam sent a document to all departments of health in the country informing about the recall of the Infanrix Vaccine, routinely given to babies in the first six months to protect them against six diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, poliomyelitis (polio) and Haemophilus influenzae Type B (Hib).
The vaccine batch with registration number QLVX-0374-10 was imported by Sapharco Medicine Company and distributed by Phytopharma Company.
Currently, many countries in the world such as Australia, Belgium, Greece, Germany, France, Malaysia and Brazil have also recalled the vaccine.
The bacterium ‘Bacillus Cereus’ was found in the factory’s manufacturing line. Generally the bacterium is found in foods and soil and can be quite toxic for humans, causing sudden diarrhea and vomiting.
