While working in the rural districts, all the medical staff will enjoy full salary and allowances applicable for hardship postings as well special benefits for each operation, anti-pandemic allowances and other welfare perks.
In addition to the above allowances, medical staff posted in a rural district will also enjoy extra half month salary plus a seniority allowance.
This new policy will take effect from April 15 this year.
Top officials from health and finance ministries from 27 countries joined other high-level health and development organizations at a two-day meeting on February 22 in Geneva to discuss ways that countries can progress towards a greater universal health coverage plan.
The meeting was convened jointly by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank and took place just weeks after the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution supporting a universal health coverage plan.
Delegates at the Geneva meeting expressed strong support for the ideas underlying universal health coverage; that everyone, irrespective of their ability to pay, should have access to the health services they need, without putting their families at financial risk.
Many speakers stressed the importance of getting political commitment to universal health coverage at the highest level. Some countries described how they are focusing their limited resources initially on providing coverage to the poor and vulnerable, while others have taken a more universal approach from the start.
The People’s Committee in Ho Chi Minh City on February 22 ordered the Department of Health to strengthen bird flu prevention. As per the guidelines, vets should enhance supervision of breeding, slaughter, transport and sale of chickens to discover the outbreak at an initial stage.
Local residents are being asked to inform local governments when they detect sales of suspicious poultry as well as report dead water-fowl.
