Hue City to celebrate World Environment Day in June 11:19 AM,5/21/2013
The national ceremony will be broadcasted live on VTV1.
Tree planting activities will also take place to mark World Environment Day.
On this occasion, the Hue Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union will organize a vegetarian cooking competition and launch a campaign to encourage people to consume more vegetarian foods.
World Environment Day 2013 theme is ‘Think-Eat-Save’, calling on people to act against food waste and minimize negative impact to the environment via food consumption.
Waste of food is waste of natural resources. For instance, making of a hamburger requires about 16,000 liters of water.
The General Assembly of the United Nations founded World Environment Day in 1972 and Vietnam began activities to respond to it in 1982.
