Vice Chairwoman of People’s Committee in Hanoi Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc October 22 asked the Department of Health to suspend work of medical workers in Quoc Oai General Hospital where a 11 year old girl died abnormally.

The cause of the death and responsibility and wrongdoings of each person must be verified, Ms Bich Ngoc pointed out. The Department has to report to the People’s Committee of the solution and the penalties on each person.

Yesterday, representatives from the Ministry of Health, the management board of the Medical Examination and Treatment Department under the Ministry, the Department of Health also worked with the hospital leaders on the death of the girl who died in the hospital while being treated there.

According to the report of the Department of Health in Hanoi, the patient was taken to the hospital with symptoms of abdominal pain; accordingly, doctors diagnosed with digestive problem, not ruling out appendicitis. They gave her fluids and antibiotics.

However, until noon her condition became worse. Her family had suggested moving her to a higher-level hospital the previous day, but doctors did not consider doing so until she developed acute symptoms.
