Suspected Ebola patient tested negative for deadly virus

Suspected of having Ebola when Chu Van Chung, 26, had a high fever after returning from an African country to Vietnam, Chung just tested negative for Ebola virus, said Professor Tran Dac Phu, head of the Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health on November 2.

Professor Phu said that after the General Hospital in the central city of Da Nang sent his blood for testing, the Department has conducted tests twice  to make sure that he is free from Ebola.

Chung was diagnosed to have Malaria Plasmodium Falciparum. He was treated Malaria and his health condition improved.

Earlier, Chung was taken to Hoan My Hospital’s emergency room on November 1 as he suffered a high fever. The patient was just leaving Guinea. Soon, he was transferred to the Da Nang General Hospital for isolation. He tested negative for the deadly virus two times, according to doctors. Tests proved he was not infected by Ebola virus.
