International Telecommunication Union will support Vietnam to become a strong IT country

In this meeting, the Prime Minister confirmed that information technology (IT) was an area of priority to implement the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and shorten the industrialization, modernization process.

Mr. Dung hopes the two-side will continue cooperating to make Vietnam become a strong IT nation, especially in broadband and network security. He suggested the ITU supports Vietnam in arranging an orbit for the Vinasat-2 satellite and encourages Vietnamese experts to work at the ITU.

The General Secretary of ITU, Hamadoun Toure, highly valued Vietnam’s IT and telecommunication achievements regarded its world IT position of 80th and approx. 220,000 experts in this area.

He said Vietnam has had a strategic vision in promoting IT with its own advantages. He also affirmed the support for Vietnam to become a strong IT nation.
