According to the meeting held on 06/09/2011 between DOST Ho Chi Minh with representatives of VITO, VITO will hold two programs, including doctoral training for Vietnamese students and technology transfer to Vietnam.
Mr. Truong Quang Vu, Department of Science Management - Department of Science and Technology, said previously Ho Chi Minh Department of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and VITO has met several times to promote this program. VITO has interviewed a number of research students at the Department of Electrical, Ho Chi Minh University of Technology, but each department has only one qualified candidate.
Until now, the program will continue and focus on three main areas: (1) sustainable energy or clean energy, (2) management, land planning, focusing on GIS; (3) sustainable chemicals, focusing on technologies related to chemical compounds derived from nature, typically membrane technology.
If students want to do researches, the university will introduce to VITO and they will conduct interviews.
For the technology transfer program, Vietnam is interested in some technologies developed by VITO, in which membrane technology has great potential in filtration, separation technology; Eharbor (electronic harbor) and Green Building, also known as energy saving buildings.
Vietnam still considers the appointment of research students, especially for technology transfer. The country will send young experienced officers. During the course, VITO will offer all machinery, equipment and related costs. However, Vietnam still needs to bear the expenses for the instructor of about 200 million (~ US$ 10,000).
