More chances for Viet Nam to boost green growth have opened under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed yesterday between the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food.

By signing the MoU, Viet Nam officially becomes the first ASEAN country participating in the Global Green Growth Forum and the 8th core member of the forum – led by Denmark and the Republic of Korea.
Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang said at the signing ceremony that in joining the forum, Viet Nam was expected to gain benefits in the environmental sector and sustainable development.
The country committed to play an active role in the forum, Quang said.
And Viet Nam would co-operate with domestic relevant agencies to implement the forum's initiatives of boosting green growth in the country, Quang said.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Danish Minister for Environment and Food Eva Kjer Hansen said that there were significant commitments and strong signals from Viet Nam about green growth to the world, especially at the time countries across the world were preparing for the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP 21).
The forum is a global platform that initiates and enables scalable green growth solutions through an annual process. It convenes governments, businesses, investors and international organisations to act together for inclusive green growth.
Also yesterday, the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food signed another MoU with the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in pig farming co-operation.
Minister of agriculture Cao Duc Phat said he hoped Demark would share with Viet Nam its experiences in breeding pigs because Denmark was known as one of leading countries in pork meat export.
