From nearly 1 ton freshwater mussel, he selects the large ones, from 6-8g each, to test. Using the tissue cultivation method, he uses the cell of a strong mussel to transplant with the imported pearl core and then implant it into the pearl bag inside the mussel. After 4 months of free range raising, alive rate is 70%, with 50% of the mussels have the pearl coating speed meet the standard. Seeing positive result, he asked his cousin who is having a fish pond to allow him to breed the mussel. After 2  years waiting, the first batch gives Mr. Viet 2kg type 1 pearl. His pearls are highly assessed by Japan’s experts through 5 factors: thickness, shape, color, shininess and luminousness. Some Japanese partners has also helped the enterprise in knowledge and material to help the enterprise grow, and are ready to import Mr.Viet’s pearls for 10.000 – 30.000 USD/kg, depend on the market.
