The instrument is made as following: Using steel wire with one head cotton wrapped, then dipped in a solution of Flykil 95 EC (purchased at the agent of plant protection products). Each 20ml bottle of solution costs 60,000 dong can be used as traps for 1,000 m2 of gourd planting for one phase of 7 to 10 days ... This solution has a special smell, which attracts flies. Use dark plastic bottles (yellow plastic bottles is the best color for flies attracting), drill two holes of 2cm diameter which are symmetrically by the bottle itself, then put the steel wire which has one end wrapped cotton through the bottle and closed. Steel wire is fixed at bottle’s cap by knotted, keep one head wrapped cotton is always being in the middle of the bottle. Instruments are hung up the rigs of gourd, squash, melon ...with a clearance from the ground is 1-1,5m, with a density of about 10m2 for one instrument. Change the cotton dipped in Flykil solution every 7-10 days.
Yellow flies perched on the cotton that has been dipped in Flykil solution will be toxicated and died, then falling down the bottom of a bottle.
To kill yellow flies efficiently, the traps will be put as soon as the young fruits appearing in the gardents of gourd, pumpkin, squash and has lasted for one month after completely harvesting, in order to limit their development in the next years.
By using this instrument, we do not need to directly spray Flykin solution into the rigs of the gourds, pumpkins, squash ... avoid toxic to the users and overcome the situation of rotting and falling of fruit cause of the yellow flies and one more thing harvesting productivity is higher than before.
