Truong Ngoc Cuong and Le Dinh An (who are students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology) come up with a very useful invention for our daily lives, which is a system for harvesting and processing rainwater automatically. This system is supposed to provide people in the areas with freshwater scarcity and water acidification, border areas and islands with clean water to use.

The operating principle is when the rain comes; a sensor will send a signal to the controller. Immediately, the controller will provide electricity for operating motor to rotate the shaft, then rainwater harvesting roof stretch out to catch water. Rainwater flows through two filters before flowing into the reservoir or water bags. “It is needful to process rain water through two new filters to get purified water. In these two filters, we design a total of six layers of materials including white limestone, coconut fiber, quartz sand, activated carbon, mineral stone and rocks to clean out the flow”, Ngoc Cuong explained.

Although the system will cost just over 2 million VND, the length of the product life cycle is up to five years for five users. Apparently, a user each year just needs to pay less than 100,000 VND for fresh water.
