Hanoi Water Limited Company has recently introduced the “CHEMILES” technology. Chemiles technology is implemented by the Japanese Nagaoka International Corporation and sponsored by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The total finance provided for the project is approximately 1 million USD.

The aforementioned system is manufactured by Nagaoka in Japan and then shipped to Vietnam. After a short period of pilot operation, the group of engineers and experts from Nagaoka, Hanoi National University of Civil Engineering and Hanoi Water Limited Company installed and commissioned the system for commercial operation.

As an underground water treatment technology that does not use chemicals, CHEMILES is capable of treating simultaneously iron, manga, arsenic and ammonia by means of oxidation process, highly efficient in combination with the use of high load filtering system (17m/hour), where both physiochemical treatment process are taking place. Depending on actual needs, treated water can be recirculated back to the air chamber and filter media chamber. The filter tank is washed by reverse washing method by using water in combination with surface controlled flushing.

The whole system is programmed to operate automatically and the operation mode can be adjusted to actual needs. The data is automatically to the research team via internet connection.

Mr. Tran Quoc Hung, Vice General Director of Hanoi Water Limited Company expressed that the chemical free underground water treatment technology - "CHEMILES" – of Nagaoka is a potential solution for resolving the worsening underground water pollution in Vietnam. If it is successfully applied in Hanoi, Hanoi Water Limited Company will consider scaling it up to other provinces.
