Dohwa Engineering Company Limited has acquired a permission to conduct a pre-feasibility study on a US$400 million project to develop a biomass energy plant in the central province of Quang Binh in early 2018 and early 2020. The 100-MW plant will produce electricity from plant-based materials such as scrap wood and forest debris including leaves and branches. It is estimated that when the plant goes into operation in 2020, it will handle around 500,000 tons of materials a year.

Chairman of Quang Binh People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai said the province will create favorable conditions for the project. It is reported that in early 2016, Quang Binh province has also permitted to grant an investment certificate for producing energy tablet from timber for Dohwa Engineering company in Hon La industrial zone with a total investment of 240 billion in late 2017.
