Vietnamese – German research reinforcementsfor erosion of the dykes in Mekong Delta

Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Business Association of Long Bien District, Weimar Institute for Precast Technology and Construction (Germany) has researched and developed successfully “Materials from fly ashes and mineral wastes to renovate dams, fill ditches and stabilize soil in Vietnam”.

This study was conducted from September 2013 to May 2016with the aim to develop materials serving for reinforcingthe dykes prone to erosion in Mekong Delta in particular and nationwide in general, on the basis of the technology to usesoil stabilization materials developed by high technology and materials of Germany.

This cooperation program is within the framework of the Letter of Intent on bilateral cooperation in the field of research, deployment and innovation between Vietnam and Germany.

Reinforcing material is the results of the research tested in An Giang Province;it was highly appreciated and desired to pilot in the reinforcement of dikes and dams in the province. This scientific research can contribute positively to the disaster protectionas climate change and sea level rise are increasingly complicated in Vietnam.
