After 5 years of research, the scientists from the Department of Geography, Edaphology and Environment (Vietnam National Museum of Nature) have completed the land suitability evaluation software (LSE).

This is Vietnam's first software used for purpose ofland suitability evaluation with many advantages such as: programmed by VBNet language under the process ofland suitability evaluation on the basis of multi-criteria analysis in the environment of Geographical Information System (GIS-MCA); the calculations and analyses based on Raster data structure can apply to the land suitability evaluation on a regional scale; with an easy-to-use interface including both English and Vietnamese; time saving in evaluating the suitability of land for crops (serves well for agricultural land use planning).

The software has been verified by applying to evaluate the suitability of land for rubber trees in Quang Binh and Quang Tri. The results showed, the evaluation of the software has coincided with the real situation in the localities.
