Integrated system of treating waste from concentrated slaughterhouses
3:28 CH,10/08/2016

To the actual situation that most of the cattle slaughterhouses do not have any waste treatment system (sewage, waste mixtures...) but discharge directly into the environment, causing pollution, a state-level project named "Application and development of integrated models of advanced technologies with renewable energy use to process efficiently and sustainably solid- liquid waste mixtures from concentrated slaughterhouses", code KC08.31/11-15, has been implemented.

One of this projects’ results is the successfully building of an integrated system of advanced technologies (5-function biological tank, gas-lift membrane, fermented H2...) to process solid-liquid mixed waste sources from slaughterhouses at the scale of 20-30 m3/day. The system has been developed and tested at the Do Xuan Khac slaughterhouse (Bai Do hamlet, Tri Thuy commune, Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi). Results have shown that the model has effectively handled wastewater from the cattle slaughterhouse, meeting the standards at column B of QCVN 40-2011/BTNMT; processing performance: COD is 95-98%, and average COD after treatment is 85 mg/l; TN and average TN after treatment are 75-80% and 32.54 mg / L; TP and average treated TP are 90-96% and 4 mg/l, respectively; in addition, using biogas recovery would help to reduce energy consumption by 16%. The treatment cost per ton of waste has decreased 5-7 times as compared to other corresponding systems.
