Through the implementation of the project "Research and production of functional food tablets containing lutein prepared from marigold petals with the visual enhancement effect for army soldiers working in low light conditions", the scientists from Institute for Research and Development of New Technologies (Institute for Military Science and Technology) have developed the extraction process of lutein-rich preparation and carotene-rich preparation as materials for producing functional foods. Evaluation results showed that the eye care tablets of the project satisfied the standards of functional foods prescribed by the Ministry of Health. Evaluation and exploration on volunteers showed that the product helped to improve their vision with a high rate of user acceptance.
