Scientists from the Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute have successfully researched and selected the red pulp dragon fruit variety TL5 through implementing the project “Research on scientific and technological solutions to develop the red pulp dragon fruit in Northern provinces” (code KC06.17/11-15).

TL5 red pulp dragon fruit variety has main features such as: good growth, big boughs, dark green leaves, 10-11 flowering times per year from April to October, fruit weight at 400-450g, elongated shape, 17-18 degrees brix. Test results at Northern provinces showed TL5’s productivity increasedwith its age, from 3-4 kg of fruit/pillar (first year) to 20-22kg of fruit/pillar (third year). When good enough, the TL5 can give the highest yield at 27-30 kg of fruit/pillar.
