Canada to provide 15 million CAD against climate change for Vietnam

Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang yesterday received Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Stephane Dion at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi on the occasion of his working visit to Vietnam.

At the reception, Mr. Tran Dai Quang stressed that Vietnam has always paid attention to strengthening further multi- faceted cooperation relations with Canada, and being ready to raise the cooperative relationship for benefit of peace, stabilization and cooperation of the two countries’ people in Asia- Pacific and the world.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister & Vietnam’s Foreign Affairs Minister Pham Binh Minh paid a talk with Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Stephane Dion.

The two ministers exchanged effective measures to strengthen further multi-faceted cooperative relationship in the upcoming times.

Development of economy, trade & investment and aids are considered as important factors in investment attraction in the upcoming times, agreed unanimously the both sides.

Two ways trade turnover increased 20- 25 percent year on year, reached over US$ 4 billion last year. And, the disbursement of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Canada was over US$ 5 billion.

On the occasion, the French foreign affairs minister also decided to provide 15 million CAD (approximately 11, 6 million USD) for Vietnam against climate change.
