Through performing the national science and technology project of KC03/11-15 program, scientists from Institute of Technology (General Department of Defence Industry) have successfully studied, mastered the design, and manufactured the deep-hole drilling machine - MD.4S-1800. In addition to being used for military purposes, the device is also applied in the industry (manufacturing, aviation, automobile, oil and gas, mining,…).

MD.4S-1800 is a deep-hole drilling machine with high-tech Gundrill method. The device is able to drill holes sized Φ5x500÷Φ22x1800 mm for the alloys with the hardness at 28÷34 HRC. The controlling system Sinumerik 840C (SIEMEN) is used for the device to ensure controlling technological parameters and integrating functions that control working modes for the hydraulic system, overload protection and warning. The technological parameters and processing modes are programmed and automatically controlled during drilling operation. MD.4S-1800 has equivalent technical features to several devices with the same size from Taiwan, China, but there is a wide range of processing, compatibility for operating conditions and technological characteristics of Vietnam.
