The Import-Export Department of the Industrial and Trade Ministry says by the end of May, Vietnam had exported 15,000 tonnes of pepper and earned over US$102 million in revenue, raising the total turnover in five months to 62,000 tonnes, up 14.5 percent in volume and 42.7 percent in value compare to the same period last year.

The US, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were Vietnam’s three biggest markets that brought in US$30 million worth of pepper.

Vietnam’s highest turnover growth was seen in India, the UAE, Italy, Singapore and Spain (over 100 percent).

Indonesia was one of the six markets dropping to a record low level (95.26 percent below zero).

The UAE is a potential market using much more pepper in their food than other countries. In addition, its foreign trade policy is very open, simple and tax-fee.

Despite these advantages, the Import-Export Department proposes Vietnamese businesses establish long-term cooperation with agents and distributors in the UAE to bring their products to consumers as fast as possible
