Mr. Thuong issued these instructions while leading a delegation of provincial officials on a survey of Ba To District on Friday, an area that has been plagued by the disease since April this year.

He asked relevant departments to hurry the construction of a health clinic in Ba Dien Commune, which has reported a huge number of patients afflicted by this strange disease.

Ba To District authorities have been asked to help children continue to attend school, provide them with rice and other relief measures and not allow the disease to affect their daily lives.

Relevant departments should also join hands with Ba To District to organize a review of the socio-economic problems that have arisen after the spread of this disease and resolve issues as best as possible.

Ba To District had recorded 240 people affected with the strange skin disease by July 13 along with 23 deaths. Later 52 more cases were reported, seven of whom are still in critical condition.

However, since June 8, no new case has been reported.

About 30 domestic and foreign medical delegations accompanied by experts have visited the affected areas but have come up with no concrete solutions or diagnosis of this bizarre skin disease.
