The event was part of the program “raising awareness about climate change and energy saving for primary school students”, which was held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in coordination with the Danish Embassy. It was also one of the activities in response to Earth Hour campaign 2013.
On the opening ceremony, the organizing committee awarded the most excellent photos. The captured photos were simple daily activities such as making use of one side printed papers and second-hand notebooks, riding bicycles with parents and putting garbage in the right waste bin.
Those practical actions with frequent education from school as well as the meaningful photograph exhibitions are hoped to become children’s daily activities.
In the ceremony, the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam John Nielsen said: “Students participating in the contest are all the winners since they bring the message and commitment to fight against climate change. Their photos transmit the message that it is necessary for us to pursue the green and sustainable development”
Tran Hong Ha, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment hoped: “Those environmental activities should not only be in the lifeless photos but should become a daily routine. Spreading the beautiful messages first at home, school and then the whole society, we join hands to take efficient actions to protect our environment, fight against climate change and conserve energy”.
