Description:

Every year, there are tens of millions of industrial wastes such as fly ash of thermal power plants, blast furnace slag of iron and steel mills, red mud of bauxite manufacturing plant, rice husk ash in agriculture branch, ... The utilization of this waste is a urgent issue in Vietnam to protect the life environment. Student’s group in Hanoi Transportation University, on the basis of the research foundation of the world has conducted the applied research to produce mortar samples using inorganic polymers adhesive with components mainly such as silicon and aluminum rich minerals materials, such as thermoelectricity fly ash that passed prequalification, yellow sand. In addition to the additives consists of a mixtures of alkali solution is caustic soda (NaOH) and liquid glass (K2SiO3) were mixed with the logical ratio components, after the product was conducted quality testing according to current standards.

The kneading process is done by Holbat Mixer mortar mixer. The control mixtures which used PCB40 and PCB30 cement is kneaded according to standards. The kneading of the mixtures that use polymer adhesive (polymer) is similar in making way, but more prolonged mixing time.

Step 1 : Sand and fly ash was dry mixed within 2 minutes .

- Then activation caustic solution including caustic soda and liquid glass is poured and mixed continuously within 5 minutes for achieving a homogeneous mix.

- After kneading, the mixture is cast in sample with beam form and size of 40x40x160 mm. Samples will be compacted by vibration table in about 2 minutes.

- Then, samples continue to be taken to preserve the temperature at 60 degrees C. And the testing stages finally, sample baked to 1000 degrees C and carrying out compress for testing of mechanical strength.

Assessment of the value of the subjects, the organization board of the contest of scientific young talent Vietnam in 2011 was awarded the first prize for the authors of this study. The first successful test demonstrated the full potential sources of new materials can be produced and used in construction. The remaining problem is to carry out with a larger scale, to put into the practice and replace the traditional adhesive gradually that is Portland cement in the construction process, contributing to environmental protection.
