- Product Name: Activated charcoal made by arrowroot residue
- The Inventor: Mr Nguyen Trong Nghia
- Address : School of Technical University of Hung Yen
- Description of the technology and equipment :

Currently, arrowroot plant is grown in many areas of the country, especially the northern mountain areas and supply of raw materials for the large-scale production of vermicelli in some villages. However, the current vermicelli villages is only using the starch part of arrowroot, the, residue waste in the production is a large untapped revenue and without thorough handling causing serious environmental pollution, affect the daily lives of the citizen .

With this technology , the implementation process includes the following steps:
- Collect samples of arrowroot residue, wash , and trim to size ≤ 1.2 mm , dry at 1000C .
- The samples is dipped with impregnated activating factor ZnCl2 ( zinc chloride ) at appropriate rate , then proceed to the temperature and baked at different times in N2 atmosphere .
- At the end of the activation process of the sample is cooled and washed with HCL liquid, then rinse with hot water until neutral pH
After drying samples at 100 º C for 12 hours , the sample will be finely ground and tested quality assessment as taking SEM to determine the surface area , the iodine ; Testing ion adsorption capacity as Fe 2 +, Cu2 ( co ) + ... in the water .
We can say , this is practically oriented research to help solving the village problems of environmental pollution , creating new materials to serve effectively in life , bringing high economic efficiency .
