A meeting and a parade in support to ASEAN Dengue Day were held in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap on June 15.
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long called on the contribution of all people and sectors. He also proposed provincial people’s committees to take synchronized measures to prevent the epidemic with a focus on eliminating mosquito larva.
Public awareness should be raised to reduce cases of dengue fever by eliminating mosquito larva in water jugs, flower pots and clear away waste items around the house which are ideal residence for mosquitoes to hatch, he said.
The meeting is to increase public awareness of dengue fever to reduce the risk of transmission as well as enhance contribution among ASEAN nation members in fighting against the dangerous disease.
After the meeting, over 5,000 people participated in a march around Van Mieu Park Square in Cao Lanh Town of Dong Thap Province.
