The Yen Bai Power Company saved up to 7,991,734kWh last year thanks to successful application of power efficient solutions and raised awareness about the power saving importance. This year, it planned to hit 7,950,000kWh.
Managing to save power
Last year, the Yen Bai Power Company was positive in power saving activities and encouraged local businesses and people to participate in these activities. The company actively worked with the Yen Bai Radio and Television Station in propagating power efficient solutions across the province; and organized the Yen Bai City Power Efficient Families contest which attracted 3,494 households in three wards in the city to participate.
To further work on the foundations laid down last year, the Yen Bai Power Company will this year continue to focus on implementing cost-saving solutions in power supply and use, aiming to save 1.5 percent of the province’s commercial electricity output. It has prepared and launched several power efficient programs with specific targets such as power saving awareness raising programs for the local community, power efficiency programs for state agencies and units (saving at least 10 percent of the annual electricity costs), power efficiency programs for businesses and households, power efficiency programs for public lighting (reducing by 50 percent lighting capacity during at night), 10 percent power efficiency programs for industrial production, and 10-15 percent power efficiency programs for the company’s affiliates.
Continual improvement of power saving awareness
As a mountainous province, Yen Bai found it difficult to raise energy saving awareness and persuade local businesses that are using outdated equipment and machinery to adopt new power efficient technologies due to financial reasons. Therefore, the Yen Bai Power Company decided to focus on changing the local perception of energy saving, especially power.
In addition to continuing promoting the propagation of power efficient solutions and launch of energy saving programs in the local community, the Yen Bai Power Company has also coordinated power efficient broadcasts, products, and training courses.
According to Yen Bai Power Company Deputy Director Nguyen Huu Nghi, to achieve its annual power saving objectives, the company need collaborate with Yen Bai’s People’s Committee and all related sectors to carry out power efficient programs at sectoral levels. Power saving will be considered as a criterion for annual business achievement review./.
