Metro Hiep Phu Center under Vietnam Metro Cash & Carry company has won the second prize of "efficient energy management in medium and small buildings" in Southeast Asia recognized by ASEAN Center for Energy.
It is known that Phu Hiep Metro Center is operating a lighting system using solar energy. This technology was first applied in Vietnam with the principle of amplifying light from the roof by the light pipes using natural light. Using this technology, the company has saved more than VND 300 million per year on electricity and reduced nearly 220 tons of CO2 emissions discharging into the environment.
Metro also  integrated a number of solutions for food preservation system and air conditioning system. That creates a friendly shopping environment to human health and the environment.
