Attracting talented experts in environment and climate change

The management unit of the Fostering Innovation through Research, Science and Technology (FIRST) Project which receive the biggest ODA in the field of science and technology has officially called on international experts and overseas Vietnamese scientists specialized in science and technology. Some targeted areas are information technology and communications; biological and agricultural technologies, new materials; mechanical automation; public services such as land surveying, mapping, hydrology, environmental protection and climate change.
According to Associate Professor Tran Quoc Thang, former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology and Project Director of FIRST, about 6 million USD of the 110 million total project cost is spent on designing and piloting policies to attract talented international and overseas Vietnamese experts. The financial support helps to attract and develop the network of talented experts. A scientist can receive funding of up to over 4 billion VND.
Domestic think tanks, universities and enterprises collaborate with foreign and overseas Vietnamese experts to jointly propose and report a detailed project to the FIRST management unit. Each approved project is required to last for no more than 24 months and end by June 30, 2019, the closing date of FIRST.
