Vietnam applies medical declaration to prevent Ebola virus disease

From August 15, passengers from in Ebola-affected countries entering Vietnam must fill a medical declaration at the border gate as per the Ministry of Health’s decision.
As the disease caused by Ebola virus is spreading widely in the world infected and killed many people, the ministry has sent an urgent dispatch signed by Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long to the departments of health in the country.
The dispatch said that currently diseases caused the fatal virus is affecting many people. It is high risk of transmitting into many nations in the world including Vietnam. To prevent the disease transmission, the Ministry asked all travelers from affected countries to Vietnam to fill the medical declaration.
Under the ministry’s regulation, people from Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria must do the filling. All border gates must carry out the medical declaration starting on August 15.
Staffs at border gates have to instruct passengers from these affected countries to fill the medical declaration strictly.
Medical workers will guide passengers to fill the form. In case medical workers detect any passenger who is suffering high fever, headache, muscle pain, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, they have to send the passenger into quarantined area and report to leaders immediately.
At the same time, the Ministry sent its document to the ministries of Public Security, Transport and Foreign Affairs requesting for cooperation to prevent the disease.
The Ministry of Health proposed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs not to allow its staffs to affected nations. In case that any staff has to go to these nations, they have to learn the preventative measures.
