Producing clean gas for thermal power from biomass fuel
4:24 CH,19/08/2014

A research team from the University of Technology Mara (Malaysia) by GS. Mohamad Asadullah head is studying a project producing clean gas for thermal power from biomass fuels.
Combustion of fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas that is responsible for a large amount of CO2 - greenhouse gas emissions causing global warming. At the same time, it also discharged harmful substances such as ash, coal dust, acidic gases ... Therefore, finding a renewable resource alternative sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly school is very important.
The group's study of GS. Asadullah Mohamad has found a new technology to produce clean gas from biomass fuel, biomass and palm oil. Especially, this technology allows simultaneous removal of contaminants, toxic substances produced during the combustion gases.
In addition to the use as fuel for thermal power plants, this gas can be used as fuel for internal combustion engines, turbines and fuel cells to generate electricity.
Potential commercialization of this technology in Malaysia is huge. Because, this national biomass energy resources are plentiful, especially biomass from palm trees, a very common crops.
